The Author
Serge Kourtchevsky (France)
An independent researcher with a longstanding interest in Italian Renaissance painting, I have spent several years studying an anonymous Renaissance painting of Christ Carrying the Cross and assessing the evidence relevant to its attribution. This research led to a detailed study, presented in a report.
This was followed by a focused study of the Venice Head of Christ, a drawing attributed to Leonardo da Vinci and considered here as a possible source for The Painting. This study was also presented in a separate report.
Further research examined the apostle Thaddeus in Leonardo’s Last Supper, again in relation to the Venice Drawing. It explores the possible circulation of the same model within Leonardo’s circle.
